This is the third episode of this ‘In Conversation Series’ conducted by Dr Sreenanti Banerjee. It includes a conversation with Paramita Banerjee. Paramita Banerjee is an Indian feminist activist and a development professional. Ms Banerjee likes to describe herself as a black coffee drinking social activist, forever pushing boundaries for a gender-just world, free from hierarchies and inequalities. She has been working on gender and sexuality, HIV/AIDS, adolescent and youth development and child rights since the late 1980s. She is the founder and chief functionary of DIKSHA, a rights-based programme for adolescents living in challenging situations. As a psycho-social intervention programme with a specific emphasis on the right to protection through participation, DIKSHA, among other things, focuses on working with the children of female sex workers and aims at creating community-based resource teams of adolescents to facilitate the process of their development as community leaders.
